Driver’s license requirements

What type of driver’s license do I need?

All our vehicles can be driven with licenses comparable to standard European B license (Up to 3500kg). Kindly, double check with your local transit authorities the validity of your license in the destination country if your license is issued outside the EU. You may be required to attain an international driving permit.

The license needs to be in Latin alphabet for us to be able to read it.

Security deposit

What is the amount of a security deposit?

Upon your arrival at a rental station, we will ask you to provide a valid credit card issued by Visa or Master Card with an amount corresponding to your deductible level:

  • With TC Basic your deductible level is 1,500 GBP/ 2,800 EUR/ 28,000 SEK/ 30,000 NOK
  • With TC Plus, your deductible level is 1,000 GBP/ 1,200 EUR/ 12,000 SEK/ 15,000 NOK
  • With TC Premium, your deductible level is 500 GBP/ 600 EUR/ 6,000 SEK/ 8,000 NOK

This amount will be pre-authorised before the start of your rental to ensure traffic fines, missing fuel/refilling service, rental extension, and possible damages.

After the return of the campervan, the authorisation from your credit card is released or cancelled in full if no interior and exterior vehicle damages were discovered during the drop-off process. The funds will then be available within a few days.

Insurance

What insurance is included in my rental?

All Touring Cars’ rentals include collision insurance with TC Basic deductible (self-risk) level. In case of an accident to the rental vehicle, you would have to pay maximum the deductible per damage, per accident or per lost item. The deductible amounts are country specific. The collision insurance covers the part of the monetary loss, which exceeds deductible value per damage. Insurance deductible does not cover interior damages which are not caused by traffic accident.

You can reduce the deductible level by choosing one of our additional insurance packages: TC Plus or TC Premium. Additionally, you can purchase our Windshield & Tyre Protection.

Partial payments

Can I pay my rental in parts?

If your planned departure date is in more than 45 days, you can make a down payment of 200 EUR/ 2000 KR/ 170 GBP to confirm your booking. Full payment of the booking must be completed no later than 45 days prior to departure.

If your planned departure date is closer than 45 days, the full payment of the booking must be completed during the booking process at once.

You will be thoroughly instructed for the use of the water system during chilly weather at the vehicle pickup.

Long rental discounts

What long rental discounts are issued at Touring Cars?

Long rentals, starting from longer than 14 days, have discounted daily rates according to the following intervals:

  • 15 – 29 rental days: 2% discount
  • 30 – 44 rental days: 7% discount

45+ rental days: 15% discount

One-way rentals

Save time and experience more when renting a motorhome one-way!

With one-way rentals, you have the possibility to return the motorhome to a different location than where pickup took place. Kindly note, that all one-way rentals include the refill of two full gas bottles, and you do not need to add this extra item to your booking.

Although, keep in mind that one-way rentals are subject to an additional fee starting from 900 EUR. The one-way fee depends on pickup and drop off location. To check one-way availability and one-way fee, please, proceed to our booking engine. The total price that you will see in the booking engine already includes the one-way fee.

Cross-border travel

Can I travel outside of my destination country?

Yes, you can. If you are planning to visit several countries with the rental vehicle, please contact our International Sales Office via info@touringcars.eu in advance to verify the requirements for possible insurance documents.

  • Travelling within the Nordic countries (Finland, Norway, and Sweden) does not require any special attention concerning approval when a rental vehicle has been collected from one of these countries. However, when collecting your rental vehicle from pickup station, kindly notify the station staff about your plans to visit other countries.
  • Travelling to Russia, Belarus or Ukraine is not allowed with vehicles rented from our European stations.

What does the green card stand for?

The green card is not in itself an insurance cover. It is a document recognized in all the participating countries as a proof that your vehicle has been insured to the necessary minimum, to meet the legal requirements of those countries. This requirement is often simply third-party insurance, covering you against a claim for damage you cause to another vehicle.

Do I need to have a green card (certificate for motorhome insurance) if I travel outside of my destination country?

Our rental station will take care of the green card after you inform our International Sales Office via info@touringcars.eu when you plan to cross borders.

Power supply in a motorhome

How does the power supply work in a motorhome?

All our motorhomes are equipped with 2 x 12V batteries. One of the batteries is for driving and the other is for the living part of the motorhome. Both batteries are charging while you are driving and when you are parked, most of the devices in the living part use a living part battery or gas. This means that you do not need to worry that you could not start the engine the next morning.

If you wish to use devices that require 230V voltage (hair dryer, coffee machine, etc.), a motorhome must be connected to an electricity grid with a cable, which is provided along with an adapter for all rentals. Some devices (laptops, camera chargers, etc.) that require a maximum of 150W power can be used with an inverter, which can be rented for an additional fee.

All our motorhomes are equipped with USB sockets.

Bed linen

Our rentals do not include any pillows, duvets, bed linens or towels. These can be added as extra items to the rental in advance, but they can also be purchased on spot.

The only exception is our Luxury category, which includes bed linen sets for all travellers.

Additional driver

Is it possible to register an additional driver to the rental agreement?

All drivers must be registered to the rental agreement for insurances and deductible to be valid. Therefore, it is possible to add as many drivers as you need to your rental agreement. In addition to the main driver, one additional driver is automatically included to your booking free of charge, when booking directly via our booking engine.

Traveling with your pet

Can I travel with my pet?

We welcome all pets to all our rental vehicles. Kindly keep in mind that the pet cleaning service should be booked in advance if you would like to bring your pet with you. Pet cleaning fee includes a thorough cleaning and ionizing treatment for the motorhome after the rental.

Gas bottles

How long will a gas bottle last in the motorhome?

Your motorhome is equipped with two full gas bottles when you start your holiday. Both bottles should be returned full when you return your motorhome unless you have purchased the refill in advance. Many of the appliances in the motorhome use gas to function, including refrigerator, stove top, and heating system. The average consumption is one bottle per week without the use of heating, but during the chilly winter months you should be prepared to change the bottle more frequently. For a hassle-free return, without a need to change the bottle, we recommend you book a gas bottle refill in advance. This can be done in our booking engine or on spot.

Age restrictions for drivers

The required driving age and driving experience vary from location to location. They are as follows:

  • Estonia – Age: 21 years Driving experience: 3 years
  • Finland – Age: 19 years Driving experience: 1 year
  • Iceland – Age: 23 years Driving experience: 1 year
  • Norway – Age: 25 years Driving experience: 2 years

What travel authorizations do I need?

Travelers from visa-exempt countries will need electronic travel authorizations to enter both the Schengen Area and the UK:

  • ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System): Required for entry into Schengen Area countries.
  • ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization): Required for entry into the United Kingdom.

If you are traveling to Europe or the UK, please check whether you need an ETIAS or ETA before your departure to avoid any travel disruptions. For more information, visit

Out of office hours

What does „out of office hours surcharge“ stand for?

Touring Cars customers can collect and return the motorhome without additional fees between 08:00 AM – 18:00 PM. Additional fee does not apply when the customer service process starts the earliest at 08:00 AM or the latest at 18:00 PM. However, if a flight is scheduled to be landing 17:30 PM (we always give 45 minutes for customers to collect the luggage) then the meeting is scheduled to happen at 18:15 PM and the additional charge will be applied.
